Early this morning, a dead body of an unidentified man was found in a Public Works Department (PWD) field at Munshirhat, Jagatballavpur, Howrah. Locals spotted the body and immediately informed Jagatballavpur police, who arrived promptly at the scene. A crowd gathered as authorities began their preliminary investigation.
The dead body’s face was smeared with oil, apparently to prevent identification, according to local witnesses. Police estimate the body to be four to five days old based on its condition. No further details about the victim’s identity or cause of death have been confirmed yet.
Jagatballavpur police have launched a formal investigation to determine how the body reached the location and to identify the deceased. The police are collecting evidence and seeking information from local residents to aid the inquiry. The case remains under active investigation.
